NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A rally of several hundred protested seven Coptic Orthodox Christians' killings in Nag Hammadi, Egypt, Jan. 7. Nashville's Coptic Christian Community held the rally Tuesday.

Twenty-five people were wounded and seven were killed as they left church after the Christmas liturgy.

"People are very passionate," said Sherif Barsoum, protest spokesman. "And this is our homeland now, in the United States, and we want the U.S. to step up and say something about the persecutions around the world and stand for freedom around the world."

There are about 2,000 Coptic Christians in Nashville.

There is pressure for lawmakers to pass a bill in Washington, D.C., in support of Egyptian Christians.
