Death is the ultimate healing
Why didn't God heal my spouse?
A man whose wife died despite a surgeon's best efforts was bitter.
"I thought God healed people," he said. "My wife spent her whole life trusting and serving Him, and then He let her die when she wasn't even fifty! Why didn't He heal her? Everyone we know prayed for her."
This man expressed the age-old cry: Why, God? Why are some healed and others not?
A friend of the grieving man had a different thought. "Your wife's been healed. We don't like to face death as the ultimate healing, but that's the truth."
As followers of our Lord, we aren't exempt from the loss of loved ones due to disease. We are, however, assured of that ultimate healing. It's no Mommy-kiss-it-and-make-it-well panacea, but it's God's final answer to hurts. Many times, God does save those the doctors have pronounced incurable, but He's no less almighty or caring when He doesn't restore them to earthly health. For believers in Jesus, heaven is our home and this present journey is our time to trust and obey our Lord.
